Texture Tutorials

It’s time for a change!

Cat Hair Studios announces the formation of a new studio for prints and high resolution digital textures – PhotoMelange.

More information will be posted shortly!

I’ve been working with Photoshop since it was released in 1990, and in thinking about my process I realize that I do things a bit “old school”, a term I honestly dislike but in this case may be correct. You can see one of the floppy disks I still have from Photoshop Version 2, this version was released in 1991!!

I am also self-taught, back when I was learning Photoshop the internet wasn’t around… so… no videos, no tutorials, their weren’t even many books available to teach you how to use the program. All the early versions did come with manuals…. but really who reads the manual??

The settings in my tutorials worked for the image I was using and the texture, or textures I included. Getting the right settings can be tricky and time consuming – so experiment, save your layers in groups, duplicate the groups then play with the settings again until you have something you like or go back to the previous group, but always experiment, and experiment again!
