Summer is Here!

It seemed easy enough, just a square card board box with 3 sides cut out and covered with tissue paper! The only thing you had to do is cut a couple pieces of white board or paper to line the back and the bottom of the box. It was actually a lot of work cutting the sides away, then trying not to lean on the box as I taped the tissue paper on all the sides, but it was fun, and the results are exactly what I was looking for! The tissue paper acts to diffuse the light giving the item a softer well balanced look overall look. The lighting control you get with this box is amazing, and by using the flaps from the box and maybe a piece of black cardboard you can get even more lighting effects.

Summer BeginsI’ve used the box quite a few times with excellent results using just sunlight. I also have one of the fake sun lamps that I use when I’d doing some craft work which also works well. The only problem now is I ripped one of the tissue paper panels, and I do not look forward to fixing it since I firmly believe that when I fix it I’ll do even more damage, cause that’s just my style!

The image above was taken in the light tent. I had rescued some tiny daisies and buttercups from being mowed over by the lawn mower! The vase is a handmade ceramic vase about 3″ tall that I had purchase a number of years ago at the Syracuse Ceramic Guild annual sale at Stone Quarry Art Park in Cazenovia, New York.
