New Print! Barn with Pond

Isn’t that just the worst title for a print or what!! Ugh…I just can’t seem to come up with a good title – maybe Barn with Mallards? Yes…No, ugh! And I love, love, love this old barn. It’s located in Baldwinsville, New York and is part of a property and home that has been abandoned. The home is a beautiful square Victorian and can be seen in my Waiting for Winter photo.

This is a new print I’m offering though my gallery at Redbubble. The original photo was taken a few weeks ago and has been enhanced to look like a painting. I’ve added some textures to the photo to add a bit more drama. The pond is also a “new” addition, I added it, along with the mallards, to replace the ugly patch of road – that’s what I get for taking pictures out of my car window!

Waiting for Winter

This house, I’m sure, was once gorgeous. It sits on a hillside with an expansive view of farm fields to the west. Today, this poor old lady is abandoned. It’s barns are falling down, the windows in the home are gone but to me it’s still gorgeous.

I saw this house last year while driving up to an appoint and have returned to photographed it a number of times. This photo was taken last week. During the summer you can hardly see the house at all, the overgrown vegetation in the front yard and the surrounding trees almost completely obscure the home from the road.

I’ve added some of my own textures to give the photo some additional atmosphere. I also added some birds to the sky and also added a rabbit in the lower left.

This will be available from my gallery as a print in the near future.

If you would like to see a very different treatment on a photo of the barn (you can see part of the barn on the far left of the image) from this property you can see it in my Flickr photostream. In that photo I added a pond to replace the road – bit of artistic license!

Mother Nature’s Daughter

Some images start off with a specific idea or concept in mind. Others are just completely organic. I’ll start off with one photo – in this case a photos of a woman standing in a field – then I’ll just flip through my photo collection and stop when something hits me.

Exactly hat hits me I don’t know, maybe its just that I’m looking at the images thinking “what if…”. When I stop at a photo, in this case a photo of a large tree, I think what if I take her out of the field and make her dress out of this tree. “Brilliant!” I say to myself, let’s try that — LOL! So I try that and in this case it worked out really well. Once I go ahead and add the upside down tree to the photo, I started to think about what this image represented…what the heck am I saying with this image.

One – A Still Life

While out at the local park a couple weeks ago I picked up some random leaves and burr-like thingies and some dried Queen Anne’s Lace to one day use in a still life. This photo is one of the burr-like things – yes I’m really bad with my flower and/or weed identification (I’ve since found out that it is a Thistle seed pod!) – in a hand made ceramic vase I purchased at at the Syracuse Ceramic Guild Pottery fair a few years ago. The vase is quite small – less than 3 inches tall, some texture was added to the vase to add what looks like glaze. The actual vase is a light tan with some light and dark areas. Textures are from Telzey and SkeletalMess

Alien Arrival

Yes, more fantasy images! Yea! This image was inspired by this beautiful seascape photo by Aitor Escauriaza, the humanoid models photographed by Marcus Ranum’s Deviant Art models and some UFO investigator show I saw on the History Channel about triangular light patterns seen in the skies over the last couple years that may be from outer space!! Cool!! A little bit of texture in the sky.
