Framed Print For Sale
I have a new print available in my Red Bubble gallery. This image is of some lovely daisies and gorgeous little yellow snapdragons I found during a walk one day.
The wonderful flask style vase is something that I purchase a number of years ago when I went to the Everson Museum of Art here in Syracuse, NY. They have an excellent ceramic collection including many outstanding pieces of American Art pottery. One of those pieces is the masterwork by Adelaide Robineau called the Scarab Vase. It’s a 16″ high-fire porcelain vase which features an intricate stylized beetle design that took Mrs. Robineau over 1,000 hours to hand carve.
Syracuse was home to quite a few artists in the 1900′s working in the Arts and Crafts style, Robineau was one, a more familiar name may be Gustav Stickley. In 1904 Stickley founded the Craftsman Workshops. The furniture he designed was made in a sturdy and plain design, referred to as Mission Style, which highly contrasted the overly ornate late Victorian pieces being produced at the time. Today his original furniture is coveted by Arts and Crafts collectors.
The vase in my photo was created by ceramic designer Marni Turkel of the Sonoma Urn Company. It was photographed in my handy little table tent light box. Textures were added to give depth and atmosphere to the image.
